I did the math and the deal is for 14 dinners (a week's worth for two people), including sides and even a few desserts. At $75, that's not much more than $5 per meal. If you take shipping into account, it's still less than $7 per meal.

I have no problem cooking real food most nights. But even I need a little break sometimes. Those nights are usually salad nights or we use up leftovers. It would be nice to have these as backup. I think I'll give it a try!

Jeanne, I think that when compared to a week's worth of meals spent at a restaurant, Beetnik fares nicely (especially with their current special). I wouldn't consider the price against grocery costs - it's the convenience of having a packaged meal that's ready to go and also healthy vs. eating out.

I've been eating these my whole life from my mother, grandmother and now wife. Why would anybody boil eggs when these are so much better.
We make them slightly different. We use the old cardboard boxes, put the eggs in them, spray with a cooking oil spray such as Pam or any other type. Close the carton and soak it a bit. Put the cartons (we usually make about 4 dozen at a time) on a cookie sheet and bake at the lowest temperature for about 6 hours. And yes we store them in the shell in the refrigerator with no problem. Makes a great egg salad too, more nutty taste.

And I can be a little too attentive in the kitchen.. a labor of love you could say. Also, when I feel like I've gotten a sufficient yield, I like to throw the "cracklins" back in the oven or on a skillet and snack on em when they're nice hot and crispy; its like a semi crunchy pemmican bar without the protein. Never waste!
